NOTICES:

  •  Click here to visit the Sports Complex Website for details on scheduling baseball and soccer.

  • Hydrant Flushing: Medina Township Fire Department will be flushing fire hydrants beginning May 10, 2009, throughout the summer. If your water is discolored just allow it to run until discoloration disappears.

  • Roadside mowing will be starting May 24, 2010.  We ask that all drivers please be aware of the mowing machine and slow down and be very cautious if you feel the need to pass the mower.  We also ask that you keep your ditches free of all debris and papers.  Debris can be hit by the mower and thrown which could possibly cause injury or damage.

The winter season is over and we ask all residents to inspect their mailboxes and be sure they are sturdy before the next winter season.

Thank you very much for your support of our effort to keep the Township safe and beautiful.

  • EVENTS:

  • On June 14th, 2010 Medina Township held its 2nd annual Flag Day Celebration. The celebration was held in the Township’s Service Building at Blakslee Park. The event included performances from the Medina Community Band, conducted by Neiman Marcus and a Flag retirement ceremony with 21 gun salute sponsored by the American Legion’s Brunswick Post 234. Ohio National Guard Company G 237th BSB participated along with Boy Scout Troop #462, Boy Scout Troop #501 and Medina Blazing Stars 4-H. Pastor Jeff Kolodziej from Cornerstone Chapel opened with the invocation, William Batchelder was Key Note speaker and John Prior (ALB Post 234) ended with the benediction.

The fourth grade essay contest was a success and the first and second place winners read their essays to the crowd. We received 64 entries and hope to receive at least double that next year. Chris Marin, first place winner from Fenn Elementary, received a $100 savings bond, and Xavier Maxwell from Blake Elementary received a $50 savings bond.

Township Trustee Mike Todd was master of ceremonies and Trustees Ray Jarrett and Sally Gardner were also in attendance. After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed pasta, salad and bread donated by George Santosuosso from Santosuossos Restaurant.

The Township would like to thank Medina’s Home Depot for donating all the flowers to landscape the memorial in time for this event. Also, Juanita Elseser, owner of Accent Floral and Gifts donated the fresh flower centerpieces. We would also like to acknowledge Gump Bros. Tent Co., Medina Staples, Medina Target, Strongsville Costco and Golden Corral for their generous donations to make this event the success that it was.

  • Celebration Marks Medina Creative Living Groundbreaking: On July 3, 2010, Medina Creative Housing broke ground on a new living space on Grande Boulevard, for those with mental and physical disabilities.  Photos coming soon.

  •  University Hospitals opened UH Medina Health Center on April 12, 2010. On May 4, 2010, officials cut the ceremonial ribbon and invited the public to join in a celebration for the opening of this new facility.

The program began with a welcome from Loree Vick, Mistress of Ceremonies. She introduced Achilles Demetriou, MD, the Chief Operating Officer of University Hospitals. He told the history of UH in Medina and promised that Medina residents would receive excellent care. Following brief speeches from other hospital dignitaries, Medina Township Trustee Michael Todd enthusiastically welcomed the Health Center.. Dr. Demetriou, aided by Mr. Todd’s daughters, then cut a wide red ribbon with a huge pair of scissors to mark the official opening of the facility.

UH brings a lot to offer to their new neighborhood. The new state-of-the-art facility is part of University Hospitals' largest expansion in its history, occurring under the health system's Vision 2010 strategic plan. The new 33,000-square-foot facility was built in anticipation of creating the UH Medina Health Center in a convenient location that will better serve the community.

After the program, 500-plus guests in the 33,000-square-foot building took a tour and participated in some of the free screenings.

A large portion of the Health Center houses an Urgent Care Center to treat adults and children who are seeking prompt treatment for minor injuries or illnesses. It is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. A Laboratory Service Center is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
